Allen Iverson was more than just a basketball player. He really redefined what was “Cool” in the NBA. Many people saw him as arrogant but I don’t feel that way at all. He just didn’t like the restrictions that the NBA tried to place on him. No Tattoos, No Braids, No Long T-shirts like come on, what does any of that have to do with his ability to play basketball? The NBA’s Hierarchy, particularly David Stern, hated him and he knew that which was why he refused to conform to them even more. He didn’t like the NBA’s dress code and felt it was very racist. They’ll always portray him in a negative fashion when he’s off the court but what they won’t show you is the houses he’s bought for his family and friends or the thousands of dollars he’s poured into rebuilding Black Communities. They won’t tell you that because of A.I. hundreds of poor Black Children went to college instead of Jail. They won’t tell you how many Drug Dealers he took off the streets but then again I’m not surprised. As Huey said, “I do not expect the White Media to Create Positive Black Images.” Salute to the Legend.
