"We’ll buy a lot of clothes when we don’t really need em, things we buy to cover up what’s inside, cause they make us hate ourself and love they wealth." ~~Old Kanye West . Interesting that Kanye West said that though in hindsight it may be SUPER hypocritical of him. However that statement still stands to make you think.
Rappers are constantly giving free promotional shoutouts for Gucci , Louie Vuitton, Versace etc…those labels seem are in very high regard in the black community. Why is that?
You would think that Gucci or Louie gives away scholarships to the black communities, pays peoples rent/mortgage, or donated organs the way it’s praised. Are they employing blacks? Do we own stock in the company? To my knowledge, I will say it again to MY knowledge I have never heard of such a thing.
If you can find something somewhere please enlighten me . Despite the massive amount of money Black consumers spend on their products, I don’t even think I have ever saw any person of color being promoted officially as model for Gucci or Louie. Doesn’t seem to be much diversity there. They don’t seem to recognize us. Regardless of those things they are still held in very regard.
Personally, it doesn’t make logical sense to me but I got a couple screws loose so I might be wrong but why are we spending our last to buy $250 Gucci shirts as Christmas gifts? Why are we spending our rent money and refund checks just to get overpriced items? Are we searching to be validated? If so by whom? In his song “Vanity Slaves” Kendrick Lamar said ”I look in the mirror, I’m trendy enough? Wrong Insecurity roams the black community……The various name brands that reach the price scan that’s not about the right price, but more like the right scam to rule us all, confuse us all Hit the bank within five minutes and then withdraw. Furthermore brands have us spending money we don’t really have, trying to impress people who don’t really care, and trying to live lifestyles that aren’t for us.
